North Shore Park
North Shore Park opened in Ormond By The Sea Florida in June 2010 and is directly on the beach next to the Beach Patrol headquarters and a lifeguard station.
Volusia County added the new park to provide additional off beach parking.
North Shore Park in Ormond By The Sea, Florida is at Roberta Road on the east side of A1A. The site was the location of the Happy Whale Condominium and the Happy Whale Restaurant. Those buildings had not been well maintained for many years and were demolished in 2001 due to an accumulation of code violations.
Part of the same project includes approximately 1 acre on the west side of A1A at Carol Road that will provide additional parking for the park and for beach goers. Amenities in addition to the approximately 100 parking spaces include benches and a water fountain, 2 beach access ramps including a handicap accessible beach access, picnic tables and grills, bike racks, benches, restrooms and showers. The new park is just down the road a few hundred yards from Tom Renick Park. North Shore Park is open from sunrise to sunset daily and admission is free.
